Oakland sessions end with wet feet and full galleries.
Oakland lives along the Ramapo River, and so do its best photographs — families on the stones at Great Oak Park, kids skipping rocks where the river runs shallow, and the 1748 Van Allen House standing guard on the old road. It's the county's most natural setting for unposed family work.
In Oakland we photograph family sessions along the Ramapo River at Great Oak Park — barefoot in the gravel shallows in late summer, on the banks when the water runs high — plus portraits at the 1748 Van Allen House's Dutch sandstone facade and open-meadow frames along the river corridor.

When is the light best in Oakland?
August is barefoot-river season, when the Ramapo runs ankle-deep over gravel at Great Oak Park. By mid-October the river corridor turns copper and sessions move to the banks. The Van Allen House's sandstone photographs best in low, warm light — first or last hour of the day.
What we photograph in Oakland
Four practices, one studio.
Maximus Visions is a wedding photographer first — that's the work that built the studio. Around it we've built three more practices that share the same documentary eye, the same two-person team, and the same standard of finish.
01
Wedding Photographer
Primary practice
Documentary coverage, ceremony to last dance.
Our primary practice. Eight years of full-day wedding coverage across New Jersey and New York City — getting-ready through reception exit. We work in pairs, quietly, with a documentary eye and a deep familiarity with the venues, churches, synagogues, and country clubs in the Bergen and Passaic County corridor.

Photography Studio
A fully equipped studio for portraits, headshots & editorials.
Our Paramus studio is built for controlled-light portrait work — family, brand, headshot, and editorial sessions on backdrop and natural-light setups. We own our gear: Profoto strobes, medium-format and full-frame mirrorless bodies, prime glass, and tethered capture for in-session preview.

Aerial Photography
FAA Part 107 licensed drone coverage.
We are FAA Part 107 certified and insured for commercial drone operation. Aerial coverage adds a register no ground photographer can match — venue grounds, ceremony arrivals, large group portraits, real-estate-style estate establishing shots, and 4K aerial cinematography woven into wedding films.

Event Photographer
Corporate, private, and milestone event coverage.
Beyond weddings, we cover the full calendar of events that matter — corporate galas, fundraisers, conferences, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, bar and bat mitzvahs, baby showers, and brand activations. Same documentary eye, same two-person team, scaled to the room.
Are riverside family sessions in Oakland safe for little kids?
Yes — we work the shallow, slow stretches at Great Oak Park where the Ramapo runs ankle-deep over gravel in late summer, and we keep families on the banks when the water is up. Barefoot river sessions in August are an Oakland specialty.
Does the Van Allen House allow portraits on its grounds?
The 1748 Dutch stone house sits on open borough grounds and photographs beautifully from the lawn — we use it as a five-minute historic stop within longer Oakland sessions. Interior access isn't needed; the sandstone and shade trees do the work.
