Allendale holds one of North Jersey's genuine natural treasures: the Celery Farm, a 107-acre wetland preserve where herons lift off the water at dusk. Between the preserve's boardwalks, Crestwood Lake's beach, and a downtown that still centers on its railroad depot, engagement sessions here never repeat themselves.

When is the light best in Allendale?
The Celery Farm belongs to dawn and the last hour of light, when the marsh goes gold and the herons move. Crestwood Lake is quietest September through May, with October reflections off the far tree line the highlight of the Allendale calendar.

Is Crestwood Lake available for portrait sessions?
Outside the summer swim season, yes — the beach and lake edge are quiet from September through May, and the water gives Allendale sessions a shoreline option most inland towns can't offer. October reflections off the far tree line are the highlight.
